Description and history of the Livadia Palace
The beautiful white palace is known as the residence of the royal family, first of Emperor Alexander II, and then of Nicholas II. In Soviet times, a sanatorium worked in the palace. During the Second World War, it became the venue for the Yalta Conference, then the sanatorium was again equipped in these interiors. And only in 1993 the palace became a museum.
The luxurious palace complex was built in the best traditions of the Italian Renaissance with elements of the Tudor style. According to many, the most attractive place in the palace is the elegant Italian courtyard with a garden of roses.
For visitors in the Livadia Palace, thematic excursions are conducted - "The Romanovs in Livadia" and "The Crimean Conference during the War". Walk through the royal reception rooms and drawing rooms, look into the emperor's study and the classroom of the grand duchesses!
A wonderful decoration of the palace near Yalta is a huge landscape park, which is recognized as a monument of garden and park art. Near the palace buildings, the green area has a regular layout, and at a distance, nature takes on a more natural look. Over 400 species of plants have been planted in Livadia. Real sequoias, columnar yews and Atlas cedars grow here. The highlight of the park is the famous Tsarskaya trail.
